- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Spread the chicken pieces evenly in the prepared baking dish in a single layer.
- In a medium bowl, combine the ranch dressing and 2 cups of the shredded Colby Jack cheese.
- Stir until well blended and creamy.
- Pour the ranch-cheese mixture evenly over the chicken.
- Spread gently to ensure all the chicken pieces are coated.
- Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheese evenly over the top.
- Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
- Bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil carefully and continue baking uncovered for 15–20 minutes.
- Bake until the cheese is bubbly and golden and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
- For extra browning, broil for 1–3 minutes at the end of cooking, watching closely.
- Allow the casserole to rest for 5–10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with plenty of the creamy cheese sauce.
