Why it is not recommended to dry your laundry in living areas
You’ve probably heard that you shouldn’t hang your laundry indoors, especially in bedrooms. This recommendation isn’t unfounded: the moisture from damp laundry can indeed be detrimental to your well-being, and even your health. This seemingly harmless, simple action can actually contribute to the development of a condition called pulmonary aspergillosis. Here’s why.

Pulmonary aspergillosis: a fungal infection to be aware of
Pulmonary aspergillosis is an infection caused by the fungus Aspergillus, which is ubiquitous in our environment, particularly in dust and air vents. Inhalation of the microscopic spores of this organism is the primary route of infection.

This infection can take different forms. In some cases, it manifests as a compact mass composed of fungal filaments and blood cells, primarily in the lungs or sinuses. This mass, called a “fungal ball,” usually remains localized and does not spread to other organs.

However, in more severe cases, aspergillosis can become invasive. It spreads rapidly to the lungs, enters the bloodstream, and can then reach vital organs such as the brain, heart, liver, or kidneys. This severe form primarily affects people with weakened immune systems.
